Question 1

What are JetPlugs?

Accepted Answer

JetPlugs are filtered earplugs intended for everyday hearing comfort in noisy environments, designed with the working conditions of cabin crew in mind. Unlike foam plugs that aim to block as much sound as possible, a filtered earplug is designed to reduce background noise while letting your surroundings through.

Question 2

How do filtered earplugs work?

Accepted Answer

A filtered earplug places an acoustic filter in the path between your ear canal and the outside world, rather than sealing the canal completely. The filter is designed to reduce sound passing through it, with the intention of taking the edge off constant background noise more than it affects the rest of what you hear. We will publish measured attenuation figures for JetPlugs once independent test data is available. Until then we do not quote performance numbers.

Question 3

Can I hear conversations while wearing them?

Accepted Answer

JetPlugs are designed to reduce sound rather than block it, so your surroundings remain audible — but anything placed in your ear changes what you hear. How clearly you can follow a conversation depends on the person, the fit and how noisy the environment is. We make no claim about speech intelligibility, and we would not recommend relying on them in any situation where hearing clearly matters.

Question 4

Can I wear JetPlugs while working as cabin crew?

Accepted Answer

That is determined by your airline, not by us. Operators set their own rules about what may be worn on duty, and those rules exist for safety reasons. Check your operator's policy and your operations manual before wearing any earplug on duty. Airline policy, crew briefings and safety requirements always take priority over anything on this website.

Question 5

Are JetPlugs certified hearing protection?

Accepted Answer

No. JetPlugs are offered as a hearing-comfort product and are not sold as certified hearing protection. They should not be used where hearing protection is required by regulation, by your employer, or by a risk assessment. In those situations, use equipment that is certified for the purpose and approved by your employer.

Question 6

Are JetPlugs designed for long flights?

Accepted Answer

They are designed with long duty days in mind, which is why comfort over extended wear is central to the design brief. Comfort is individual. If you notice irritation, pressure or any discomfort, take them out. Confirmed guidance on recommended wear time will be published alongside the final product documentation.

Question 7

How do I clean them?

Accepted Answer

Wipe the ear tips with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth after use and let them dry fully before returning them to the case. Do not use solvents, alcohol gels or boiling water, and do not push anything into the filter opening — the filter is the part that does the work. Replace the ear tips if they tear, harden or discolour. Earplugs are personal items and should not be shared.

Question 8

Where can I find shipping and returns information?

Accepted Answer

Shipping options, delivery timeframes and the returns process are set out on our Shipping & Returns page. Because earplugs are a personal hygiene product, returns conditions can differ from other items. The published policy on that page is the one that applies to your order.
